With the 2025 Australian Open only a few weeks away, all eyes have shifted Down Under as tennis stars prepare for the first Grand Slam of the season.

Australia has produced several talented tennis players, with Nick Kyrgios, Alex De Minaur and Thanasi Kokkinakis all currently representing their country on the ATP Tour. However, there are a select few who have done their nation proud by winning several titles, and we shall take a look at the top 5 ATP stars with the most titles.

Five Australian tennis greats with the most ATP titles

5. Tony Roche - 21 titles
Roche won the pre-Open era 1967 French Open championships, but maintained his success in the Open Era with 21 singles titles. He won notable tournaments on home soil in Hobart and Sydney, with his final singles title coming at the Queen’s Club in 1978.

4. Lleyton Hewitt - 30 titles
The former World No.1 is the only Australian man to win a Grand Slam title in the 21st century. Hewitt won the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon title, and is famously known for winning his maiden ATP title in Adelaide at the age of 16 years old.

3. Ken Rosewall - 40 titles
Rosewall was winning amateur Slams in the early 1950s, and won 40 recognized titles following the start of the Open era in 1968.

2. John Newcombe - 41 titles
The Aussie great won five Grand Slam singles titles in the Open Era, with two Wimbledon titles, two Australian Open titles, and a US Open title, before his retirement in 1981.

1. Rod Laver - 72 titles
A legend in his native land, 'Rocket Rod' won all four Grand Slam tournaments in a historic 1969 season. He won an incredible 16 titles that year and followed that with 13 titles in 1970, winning multiple titles each year until he claimed the final five titles of his career in 1975.
