"Without Federer, Wawrinka would have been a superstar in Switzerland" says tennis coach Dieter Kindlmann

Tennis coach Dieter Kindlmann had a decent tennis career but he found more success by being a tennis coach.

He believes that Switzerland as a country has been incredibly blessed with tennis talent albeit one stands out. Speaking on the topic he said:

"You cannot compare Roger Federer, Martina Hingis, Belinda Bencic, or Stan Wawrinka between them. But Switzerland is incredibly blessed with the number of good players from here."

Stan Wawrinka is one player Kindlmann likes a lot with the Swiss player having a tremendous career considering the era that he played in. Wawrinka won 3 grand slams in the era of the big three beating some of them in the final as well. Kindlmann believes that he would have been a superstar if Federer did not exist:

"Without Roger Federer's shadow, Stan Wawrinka would be an absolute superstar in any other country."

The Swiss player partnered Federer in Beijing where they won an olympic medal for Switzerland but he found himself struggling with a lot of injuries recently. He will miss the Australain Open as well and possibly return only in March.
