Jannik Sinner is through to the semi-finals of the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters where he will take on Stefanos Tsitsipas after a tough and chaotic battle against Holger Rune 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 in his favour. Chaotic due to an incident involving the Dane.
Giving a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct after deciding to gesture the crowd after they booed due to a time violation, Sinner opened up post match that he didn't think badly of Rune for the incident and that he doesn't personally revel in the chaos. This shows a business like nature to the Italian and one that he will hope to show against Tsitsipas.
“Just watching my side. This can happen. I know this. There’s nothing wrong with all this. You can make a bit of chaos. I’ve learned from last year also a bit. It’s all part of the learning process. Even if I lose today, I learn again. I’m happy about today. It was a very tough match. I stay on the match side more than all the rest. Tomorrow’s gonna be a tough one tomorrow against Stefanos. He’s playing well. Let’s see what I can do tomorrow," said Sinner post match.
“It took a lot. Playing him is never easy.. Especially on this kind of occasion. I’m very happy I won today. Mostly about the level. I raised it today a bit. it was more physical, more rallies today. General feelings were better. I’m very excited about tomorrow’s match.”
