After winning at the Chengdu Open, Alexander Zverev would've been one of the favourites to excel over the Asian Hard Court swing.
He reached the semi-finals in Beijing, but since then faltered in Shanghai and Tokyo as he continues to play week after week which Boris Becker doesn't believe is a wise move.
Mainly in order to qualify for the ATP Finals, Zverev also plays the Vienna Open this week. But the German legend said that he is not getting any younger and can't be playing 26 tournaments a year.
He said he has to put an onus on certain priorities in his tennis life and also filter in breaks in quotes translated from Tennisnet and as per his podcast on Eurosport.
"My advice would be to just filter out the priorities of the year and say 'I want to play well at Wimbledon. What do I do for that, what grass tournaments do I play?'. Same with clay court tournaments for Paris or hard court for the US Open. Then you can In the fall, see what you're missing in order to be there at the ATP Finals. You can't play 25 or 26 tournaments a year," said Becker on Eurosport podcast Das Gelbe vom Ball. “Sascha is also getting a little older.”
