Patrick Mouratoglou responded to a fan on social media after his return to work with Holger Rune was confirmed. The Danish tennis player will reunite with the French coach after 10 months since their separation, which occurred during a period marked by frequent changes in coaches.
The 20-year-old began working with Mouratoglou at the end of 2022, and together they secured the title at the Masters Paris-Bercy, Rune's most significant achievement to date. However, they announced their split after a period of inconsistency for the Danish player following the 2023 Wimbledon.
Rune had added Boris Becker to his team to work alongside Severin Luthi, but just a few weeks ago, he announced his separation from the former world No. 1. Shortly afterward, it was also confirmed that he had parted ways with Luthi.
The confirmation that Mouratoglou will be working with Rune again caught the attention of fans due to Rune's lack of stability and his team's frequent changes, as well as his current struggles to perform at his best.
On social media, a user criticized the decision and expressed ironic thoughts about Rune's frequent coaching changes: "Guy changing his coaches like I do my underwear," he wrote.
The former coach of Simona Halep and Serena Williams responded humorously to the fan: "You change your underwear every 6/8 months?" Patrick Mouratoglou replied.
Rune's latest tournament appearance was last week at the Rotterdam Open, where he entered as the third seed but was eliminated in the round of 16 by Kazakhstani player Aleksandr Schevchenko.
