Zhizhen Zhang makes history once again, becomes first ever top-100 tennis player from China

While China has produced many great WTA players only now do they get their first ATP player ranked inside the top 100.

Zhizhen Zhang made tennis history in Napoli as his good performances allowed him to enter the top 100 for the first time and become the first Chinese player to enter the ATP 100. As crazy as that sounds, there has never been a top 100 male player from China before with Zhang being the first one.

He was happy about the achievement calling it a big step for Chinese tennis which has been present on the WTA tour for many years:

"I think it is a tough road to be Top 100, I’m so happy for today because I played two matches today and it is a small step, but it’s also a big step for Chinese men’s tennis."

It comes after a brilliant season from the player who has had a lot of success on clay this year but now started to play well on hard courts as well.
