Alexander Zverev is through to the
bett1HULKS Indoors Cologne quarterfinals after defeating Fernando Verdasco in straight sets. The 64-minute match was a good one that the native German crowd enjoyed as Zverev won it 6-4 6-1. The first set was a clean one from both player's as neither struggled much by serving. For Zverev it was used mostly to adapt to the new conditions.
Verdasco played a bad game midway through the set and Zverev seized that opportunity and broke him to take a 4-2 lead. After that, it was mostly routine for both of them with the set finishing 6-4. The 2nd set, which Zverev won with 6-1, lasted only 26 minutes and for good reason. The German completely took over the whole match stringing several points together. Verdasco quickly understood his day was getting nearer so his effort dipped as well.
Ultimately Zverev finished him off with another break to end the match 6-1. Everything worked for Sasha in this one as he hit 7 aces which helped him have an 84 % winning percentage on his 1st serve. He had the exact percentage on his 2nd serve as well which was enough for a very clean match where he never faced a breakpoint.
