Alexander Zverev is set to withdraw from this year’s
US Open according to BILD with his recovery from injury not successful in time for Flushing Meadows.
Zverev tore his ankle ligaments in a horror injury during the semi-finals of this year’s French Open where he looked on course to defeat Rafael Nadal.
It was always going to be an uphill struggle for the German and after withdrawing from both Montreal and Cincinnati, the question marks remained and they have seemingly been answered.
Zverev told BILD two weeks after the injury: "I won't come back when I'm 100 per cent fit, but when I can win the tournament."
