After overcoming a slow start, Alexander Zverev showed his high-quality game to win the match against Filip Krajinovic at the Adria Tour.
The beginning of his first match at the
Adria Tour was an absolute nightmare for the 23-years-old German. Zverev had real problems on his service game and Krajinovic didn't allow him to show a lot on the return as the Serbian triumphed 4-0 in the first set.
Krajinovic started the second set in a similar style he ended the first. He broke Zverev again and took a quick 2-0 lead. However, the German really improved from that moment as he got the set to the tie-break where he triumphed 7-5.
In the third set, it was almost a one-man show. Zverev lost his first service game again, however, he then won 10 points in a row to get a 3-1 lead. Zverev then led already 30-0 on his serve but missed his service 4 times in a row committing 2 consecutive double faults. Krajinovic then got a break back and granted himself one more shot to win this match.
The Serbian used his chance and so the match was decided by another tie-break. In the tie-break, Zverev showed why he is ranked 7th in the world. The German got an early 5-0 lead and didn't let his opponent to get within striking distance since. Zverev won 7-2 in the tie-break to win the match 0-4, 4-3(5), 4-3(2).
