After Damir Dzumhur got injured in his match against Dominic Thiem, he was replaced by Nikola Milojevic. The Serbian took his chance as he faced Grigor Dimitrov and showed a high-quality performance. In the other match, Dominic Thiem could add second victory against Dusan Lajovic.

Milojevic wanted to prove the home crowd that he's not just an alternate. He started the match against Dimitrov with a 4-1 victory in the first set. In the second set, it seemed that Bulgarian is back in the match, however, the set reached tie-break where Milojevic was better again and won the match 4-1, 4-3(4).

In his 2nd appearance at the Adria Tour, Dominic Thiem faced Dusan Lajovic. The Austrian had a slow start into the match as he lost the first set 1-4 in just 17 minutes. However, he managed to come back as he won the second 4-1 and the third set reached the tie-break. Thiem faced 3 match points but won 5 points in a row to win the match 1-4, 4-1, 4-3(6).
