Jannik Sinner secures his third consecutive win at the ATP Finals by defeating Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-4, advancing to the semifinals as the group leader. The world No. 1 continues to play at an impressive level, knocking the 2021 US Open champion out of contention.
The 23-year-old achieved his 15th top-10 win and reached 68 victories this season, matching Rafael Nadal’s 2017 record. The last player to surpass this mark was Andy Murray in 2016, with an impressive 78-9 record and nine titles.

On-fire Sinner marches to ATP Finals semis

Sinner was simply unstoppable on serve. Despite a 50% first-serve rate, he won 100% of those points and 82% of his second serves, giving up just two points in five service games. On the other side, Medvedev began feeling the pressure on his serve as the games went on. In the 6th game, Sinner had his first break chances, but the Russian managed to hold his serve.
It didn’t help much, as the Italian got another opportunity in the 8th game, securing the break and later taking the set 6-3. Medvedev not only struggled with Sinner's serve consistency but also faced more difficulties in the rallies and was less precise. Just four winners and 16 unforced errors in the set proved costly.
In the second set, the world No. 1 kept his momentum and quickly secured a break in the third game, once again on his first opportunity. The Russian gradually began to threaten Sinner's serve, securing his first two break points and leveling the score. From 1-3 down, Medvedev won 13 of the next 16 points, taking the lead 4-3.
Just as it seemed the match was evening out, Medvedev’s confidence wavered as he found himself down 0-30. Unable to find his first serves and with no answers to Sinner’s shots, the Italian took the decisive break to seal the victory. Without any hesitation on serve, Sinner wrapped up an impeccable 6-3, 6-4 win in 73 minutes.
With this, Sinner claims the top spot in the group without dropping a set, giving a boost to Taylor Fritz, who will advance as the group’s second player. The B Group now awaits its outcome to determine the Italian's next opponent. For now, the John Newcombe Group has Alexander Zverev in the lead, with Carlos Alcaraz in second place.
