Taylor Fritz sealed a decisive triumph for Team USA in the final of the 2025 United Cup. He saw off Hubert Hurkacz in a deciding set tie-break in a pulsating end to this year's tournament aside from the doubles to come.

Poland finish runner-up for back-to-back years as a result. After Gauff won her opening tie 6-4, 6-4 against Swiatek, it was up to Fritz to deliver. He did so in a match dominated by the serve. It featured 30 aces and just three break points throughout the whole contest.

Top seeds in this tournament, USA delivered throughout and lived up to their billing while again it is so close yet so far for Poland. Fritz sealed it 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(4) and the USA have defeated Poland 2-0.

In a match that lasted over two hours, Fritz took the early impetus with one of those sole three break points. He broke for 3-2 to lead proceedings heading into the second set 6-4 up and seemingly stamping a spot for USA.

But back came Hurkacz. This time it was a break point at the final juncture. He sealed it at 7-5 claiming a 40-0 break to make it 1-1 and it went all the way from there.

A titanic tussle in the final set was taken by Fritz. No break points all set and the only time serve was lost was during the tie-break. Hurkacz went 2-0 in front and 3-2 also but Fritz turned it around with despite Hurkacz breaking back zooming in on some of the final points and claiming the win.

Hurkacz was left on the bench in tears as they lost out showing exactly what the tournament means while for Team USA it is pure joy and jubilation as they win the title. The season has officially begun.
