Former world number one America’s
John McEnroe took home a
handsome chunk of money while working for the BBC during
Wimbledon 2023.
The 64-year-old has been associated with British
broadcasters for quite a while for their tennis coverage.
As per the latest report by
Daily Express, the seven-time
Grand Slam winner ended up making £30,000 compared to the last year and took
home a sum of £210,000 while working as a co-commentator for the BBC during the
mega-event which recently concluded in London.
That was more than what former lead presenter Sue Barker
used to earn with the British broadcasters during her time with as it was
reported that her income was between £185,000 and £189,999.
The tournament concluded with a grand finale between the
current world number one
Carlos Alcaraz and the defending champion Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic.
It was the youngster who came out on top in a five-set thriller
with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
The victory ended Djokovic’s 34-match winning streak in the competition
which lasted for more than four years where he won four back-to-back titles.
