The
Pickleball Slam will return again in 2025 with a minor change to the line-up but
Andre Agassi and
Steffi Graf trying to defend the title they won this year.
Andy Roddick will return to the competition instead of John McEnroe and he will be with current pickleball pro and former Wimbledon finalist,
Eugenie Bouchard in Las Vegas. Maria Sharapova won't return this next year. Taking place on February 16, 2025 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, it will have a prize fund of $1m and will be televised on ESPN.
There was some fighting talk also already between Agassi who also will add the Laver Cup to his resume in 2025 and Roddick. The latter first teamed with Agassi in the inaugural 2023 edition to face McEnroe and Michael Chang. But Graf always lurked in the background and made the step up this year.
They ended up scooping the cash prize and plaudits and Agassi can't wait to return saying that he feels sorry for Roddick and Genie to face him and Graf in his home city.
"I can’t wait to return with Steffi and defend our title in February at Slam 3," Agassi said in a statement. "It’s an incredible opportunity to play in my hometown of Las Vegas, where the stakes are high, and the energy is electric. In this city, the odds are always in our favor, and I almost feel a little sorry for Andy and Genie."
In some hilarious fighting talk, Roddick responded. "@AndreAgassi has forgotten that I completely carried him to the first @pickleballslam win. He won’t have that luxury this time around," he wrote.
"For Slam 3, I’m actually more concerned about Steffi—she's a force to be reckoned with! Genie and I are ready to defy the odds. After all, this is Las Vegas, a city that knows a thing or two about unexpected upsets," he concluded.
