Maria Sharapova has shared her pre-New York workout on social media as she prepares to attend the US Open.
Former world No. 1 Sharapova had a hugely successful career in the sport, winning five Grand Slams and boasting 36 titles overall, as well having as an Olympic medal to her name.
Moreover, the 2006 US Open champion, who retired in 2020, has now given fans an insight into her fitness regime ahead of attending this year's New York major.
Posting on her Instagram story, the 36-year-old shared a photo of herself in workout clothes with a caption talking about the importance of strength work in a fitness regime.
"Strength work doesn't come easy for me but it's so important," she wrote, followed by a sweat emoji.
Following her workout, Sharapova shared a selfie with earbuds in and water bottle in hand, captioned:
"Pre-New York," referencing her attendance at the upcoming US Open.
Following this, the Russian former player who now lives in Florida posted a photo of a bowl of salad with the caption:
"Cannot promise nyc will look this healthy."
Sharapova competed at the US Open 13 times throughout her career. Outside of her win in 2006, she reached the semi-finals twice in 2005 and 2012.
