As the curtain comes down on another clay court season (challengers aside), the attention now turns to the first full week of the grass court season.

The Libema Open in 'S-Hertogenbosch is a usual stop in the Netherlands and hosts one of the only combined ATP and WTA tournaments.

Also known as the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships. It is a 250 on both sides of the ATP and WTA draw and takes place between 12-18 June. As ever, TennisUpToDate will preview the action in both draws.

WTA Tournament featuring Azarenka, Kudermetova, Andreescu and Venus Williams

While combined they do not share the same prize money with a significant downgrade for WTA players despite some would say a better field.

Headlined by Veronika Kudermetova, Liudmila Samsonova as well as former Grand Slam champions in Victoria Azarenka, Bianca Andreescu as well as the return of Venus Williams.

The intrigue is further on the WTA side with Ekaterina Alexandrova also back as defending champion.

Andreescu heads into Libema Open a Grand Slam finalist after losing in the Mixed Doubles alongside Michael Venus at Roland Garros.

She becomes the first Canadian to reach a Grand Slam final in singles and doubles and will look to better her second round best at Wimbledon this year.

Of course with Andreescu, she is still technically recovering from her horrific injury she suffered at Miami which in a miracle only saw her out for a few weeks.

But while she defeated Azarenka in Paris before losing to Lesia Tsurenko in the third round, wins have been few and far between mainly due to most of the tournaments being WTA 1000's or Grand Slams.

Reaching a maiden Grass Court final last year, the potential is certainly there for a good grass court season and Rosmalen could yet be the first gauge.

Most of the talk will also surround Venus Williams who will start from the bottom again (almost) with of course protected rankings, wildcards etc meaning a player of her stature won't struggle.

This will likely include Wimbledon where she will seemingly have one final hoorah but given her insistence on returning now until the age of 42, it may be a love affair that continues for a while yet.

Of course for Azarenka, she has not played a single grass court tournament since 2021 after the ban on Russian and Belarusian players last year.

But is coming in with horrific form and will hope to turn a corner on a surface she's had success in the past.

ATP Draw including Medvedev, Sinner, Coric and Raonic

With a best of a fourth round previously at Wimbledon, Daniil Medvedev will attempt to unlock his grass court game to the same specification as his new clay court specialist method.

He headlines the Men's field. This alongside Jannik Sinner who himself lost early in Paris to Daniel Altmaier. Both will look for early form alongside Borna Coric.

Milos Raonic will also make his long awaited return to the ATP Tour on Monday when he faces Miomir Kecmanovic.

Raonic has not played since the 2021 Atlanta Open when he lost to Brandon Nakashima. This due to an achilles problem.

He suffered further injuries that prevented a return to the tour but now he is back and will start his return in the Netherlands next week.
