Bianca Andreescu had a break out year in 2019 claiming the Indian Wells title, Rogers Cup and then the US Open to cap it all off.
Despite that, Andreescu headed into the WTA Finals as a firm favourite but suffered a knee injury which has derailed her return to action since.
She was slated to return at Indian Wells but pulled out before it was
cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Miami Open may still be in doubt with it rumoured to be off but that is the target for her as well as the Olympics this year.
In a recent interview, she spoke about how she likes to unwind away from rehab and her ambition to return to action.
“I’m addicted to Netflix, I don’t think that’s a good thing," said the 19-year old Canadian in an interview with PEOPLE magazine.
That’s the best therapy for me. I’m just taking it day by day, doing better and better as the days go on. I’m very pleased about that. I’ve been doing a lot of rehab on my knee, a lot of strengthening. Right now I’m hoping to play Miami Open"
Andreescu also spoke about the Olympics: "I’m really looking forward to the Olympics this year, 100%. I remember when I was 12 years old. I remember watching that 2012 Olympics and telling my mom, ‘I want to be there.’ And I have a really good chance this year so I’m super excited,” she added.
“I’ve heard from athletes who’ve played them over the years and they say it’s one of the best experiences of their lives so that’s definitely a goal of mine. Obviously not just participating in it, but getting that gold medal would be something incredible”.
