In an interview, he gave post the Battle of the Brits Andy Murray assured everyone that he was fine and he withdrew as a precautionary measure.
After the
Battle of the Brits event finished
Andy Murray gave an interview where he reflected on the event and his performance and gave an update to his status. This was the first time he played competitive tennis in 7 months so when news about his withdrawal arose many were concerned. I'm the interview he insisted it was nothing to worry about saying:
“I’m okay – it’s just that this week is by far the most I’ve done in seven months. One of the shins has been an issue and it’s a bit sore, so best not to risk it."
Speaking about his performance and the ultimate placing he achieved he said:
“The results were not the important thing. At times I played well and at times my level dropped. If I can get to the level I played in the first set [against Evans] and maintain that it would be good.”
Indeed the level Andy
displayed in that match was pretty good. If he could maintain it he certainly would have to say something on the tour. He also said that he plans on playing the US Open this summer despite many players questioning the safety of the event. The
Battle of the Brits event was ultimately won by
Dan Evans.
