While the ATP Tour suspension lasts until the end of July, the American players won't miss competitive tennis as they will meet in the All-American Team Cup. Players will be divided into Team Stripes and Team Stars as we already know the full entry list.
Only the top eight players from the United States have an opportunity to start at this competition. It will take place in Life Time Fitness, Peachtree Corners, GA, and the winning team will present a $10,000 check to Folded Flag Foundation and also receive the trophy for the winners.
The tournament will be broken into 3 days with each day being special by the number of points received for the competition. On Friday, teams will receive only 1 point for a victory. On Saturday, each win will be worth 2 points and finally, on Sunday, teams will be rewarded by 3 points per victory.
As always, the most important part of the tournament are the players. Currently the highest-ranked US tennis players, John Isner will be the captain of Team Stripes. The tall American will be joined by Sam Querrey, Tennys Sandgren, and Steve Johnson. On the other side of the court, Team Stars will be led by Frances Tiafoe accompanied by Taylor Fritz, Reilly Opelka, and Tommy Paul.
The All-American Team Cup can be also seen as a battle of two generations. While the average age of Team Stars is slightly above 22-years-old, Team Stripes has the average age of more than 31-years-old while 3 out of 4 players are older than 30.
