It was a sad day for fans in the Czech Republic and Slovakia as two of their star names announced retirement on the same day.

Former world number 4, Tomas Berdych, wants to announce his retirement during the Saturday at the ATP Finals. On his Instagram account Wimbledon finalist Berdych said: "If you wanna have a little surprise, please do not follow any media. The mistake happened, I had it planned as a little surprise on Saturday when I am going to be in London."
2009 Hopman Cup champion, 2016 Tour Finals champion, 2014 Australian Open finalist and former world number 4 Dominika Cibulkova announced the sad news on the same day. During her career, she won 8 WTA and 2 ITF titles in singles and 1 WTA title in doubles.
In her post on Instagram Cibulkova wrote: "I have special news to share with you all. As you know I haven’t been playing tournaments for several months. What started as a recurring Achilles injury, developed into one of the most difficult moments in my life – deciding on what to do with my tennis career. After a lot of thinking, talks, and support from my family, friends, and my team, I have finally decided that I will not be returning to the courts as a competitive player."
