Czechia will have to swap places to feature in the quarterfinals of the United Cup. The mega-event is moving towards the business end where eight teams are remaining who will battle it out to secure the ultimate prize.
Czechia, who was one of the two teams who made it through to the playoffs as the second-best team in the group, will now swap places with Great Britian. They will face Italy in the last-eight clash on Thursday. On the other hand, Great Britain, who finished on top of group F in Sydney, will face Poland in the quarterfinals.
Czechia made their way into the quarterfinals after winning one of their two fixtures. They defeated Norway with a score of 2-1. They then went on to lose against Poland in their second clash of the round-robin with a score of 2-1. The only team that missed out on a place in the last eight from Group B was Norway, which lost against Poland as well, scoring 2-1.
The only other team that qualified as a runner-up in their group was China. They booked their place after beating Brazil with a score of 3-0. However, they ended up on the losing side to defending champions Germany with a score of 2-1. The other quarterfinals have already been completed, and Kazakhstan cemented its spot in the semifinal after beating defending champion Germany with a score of 2-1 in Perth. On the other hand, team USA also booked their place in the last four after beating China with a score of 2-0.
