WTA Stars Stand With Caroline Garcia

Caroline Garcia spoke out after her first-round loss to Renata Zarazúa, becoming a trending topic by sharing some of the abuse she received following her defeat to the Mexican player. "It really worries me when I think about younger players coming up, that have to go through this," she posted on Instagram. "People that still haven't yet developed fully as a human and that really might be affected by this hate."

Some of the messages she received included insults and even death threats. Several of her peers shared Garcia's post on social media and thanked her for speaking out on an issue that seems to be increasingly prevalent on players' social media accounts. Among those who voiced their support were Ons Jabeur, Paula Badosa, Bianca Andreescu, Madison Keys, Monica Puig, and others.

This is something that many of us have dealt with all of our careers and hasn’t been handled. We shouldn’t be subject to this type of abuse when we only try and do the best we can at our jobs like everyone else. Social media is becoming such a disgusting and toxic environment.

The world No. 2 later shared the special moment with the young fan on social media after her victory. Sabalenka advanced to the third round, where she will face the 29th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The moment Pliskova retires after three points

A highly anticipated second-round match between former world No. 1 Karolina Pliskova and current world No. 5 Jasmine Paolini ended abruptly. Unfortunately for the spectators, the Czech player retired after just three points, following a strange movement and experiencing pain in her left ankle.

Pliskova requested medical attention but couldn’t overcome the pain and decided to retire from the match just a minute after it started. As a result, Paolini advances to the third round of the US Open and will face Yulia Putintseva. You can relive the moment of Pliskova’s retirement here:

Kostyuk's cool solution: Ice Pack Tactic During US Open Match

The 19th seed Marta Kostyuk has had a good showing in Flushing Meadows, following straight-set victories over McCartney Kessler and Harriet Dart. The heat has been a challenge for players at the US Open, and Kostyuk found an interesting solution to face the weather conditions.

A video of Kostyuk with an ice pack on her head during a break circulated on social media. Kostyuk will face the 13th seed Emma Navarro in the third round. They faced each other at the Canadian Open a few weeks ago, and Navarro won the match 7-5, 7-5.

“The ice pack strategy is evolving. She's now added the cool air blower into the mix. Weather Channel says it's 93° but feels like 99° ☀️ genuinely in awe of the players playing through this,” posted a fan of the Ukrainian No. 1 on Instagram.

Djokovic praises Djere’s effort despite injury

Novak Djokovic left a message of support on social media for his compatriot Laslo Djere, after he was forced to retire from his second-round match. Nole was leading the match 6-4, 6-4, 2-0 when an abdominal injury forced Djere to withdraw before finishing the match, despite a strong performance in the first two sets against the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

Djokovic had words of respect for his opponent in the on-court interview: "It’s not what we want to see,” Djokovic said. “He’s such a good player in these conditions and the second set should have been his, he was 4-2 up. I don’t know if (my) winning the second set probably put more burden on him.”

A few hours later, the world No. 2 left an emotional message to his Davis Cup teammate: “Big respect to @DjereLaslo. You played great in super tough conditions 🥵. Speedy recovery, my friend 🇷🇸. Round 3, let’s go.”

Ruud pays tribute to Andy Murray

Casper Ruud paid 'tribute' to Andy Murray with an incredible point against Gael Monfils. The Norwegian tennis player secured another victory at the US Open after overcoming the veteran Gael Monfils in a match that provided real entertainment for the spectators.

The fourth set extended to a 7-point tie-break, and Ruud already had a mini-break in his favor. After a couple of good returns from Monfils, the Frenchman took control of the point, moving Ruud from side to side of the court. However, the Norwegian persevered and managed to finish the point in his favor with an incredible cross-court passing shot.

Later, the 8th seed shared the clip on social media, mentioning that it was a "tribute" to Andy Murray, who had often achieved similar points throughout his career.
