Russia’s tennis star
Daria Kasatkina has continued to throw
shade on the men’s world number six
Alexander Zverev. Germany’s tennis star suffered a heartbreaking defeat in
the semifinal of the
Australian Open to the current world number three with a
score of 5-7, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-3.
That defeat would’ve hurt Zverev far more as he was two sets
up at one stage and was just two points away from winning the contest in the
tiebreak of the third set. As per the Australian Open website, at one stage, Zverev was
94 percent favourite to win the tie but yet ended up on the losing side, largely
because of committing too many errors.
After the match, Kasatkina,
in a post on her official account
on social media platform X — previously known as Twitter, took a dig at Zverev
by stating: "I feel like everyone is thinking the same right now.”
After the match, Zverev admitted that the defeat was ‘extremely
disappointing’, especially after he started really well.
"I mean, just basically the whole Australian trip I was
playing quite well. Been playing well actually for a few months now, so it's
obviously extremely disappointing. Yeah, nothing much I can say," Zverev
said.
"Yeah, frustrating. But for me it's more frustrating
that I didn't feel 100% physically. That was more frustrating to me. It kind of
took the chance away. You know, kind of I lost it because of a physical state,
not because of tennis. That is, for me, disappointing..." Zverev added.
