Emma Raducanu has dropped out of the top 200 in the WTA Ranking after missing a large part of the 2023 season due to injury.
The 20-year-old made history at the 2021 US Open when she became the first unseeded qualifier to ever win a Grand Slam, defeating Leylah Fernandez in the final. However, she has faced a lot of difficulty since then. In July 2022, the British player reached a career-high of World No. 10, but has since dropped significantly.
Raducanu underwent surgery on both her wrists and her right ankle in May. Now, she is training in China as she prepares to return to the sport in December.

Raducanu tipped to recover from drop

When the rankings were updated on Monday, September 20, Raducanu dropped 20 spots to No. 214. This is the first time that she has been outside the top 200 in 27 months, which was prior to her breakthrough at Wimbledon 2021.
Nevertheless, former British No. 1 Tim Henman has predicted that the young player will 'comfortably' return to the top 100 in the WTA Ranking once she is fit and healthy.
"At Indian Wells, one of the last tournaments that she played, up until 20 minutes before the matches, she wasn’t sure whether she was going to play. She was training on court so sporadically, and then she still won three rounds and beat some very good players.
"[Her victory over Beatriz Haddad Maia was her best win by ranking since the US Open title. And that was on the back of no practice or training. So, if she can be fit and healthy, she’ll get back in the top 100 comfortably and she’ll get back in the top 50.
"And who knows from there? So I’m very positive and optimistic," he said back in August.
