Despite making rare appearances on the tennis court, WTA star Eugenie Bouchard has not lost her competitive edge as she took some playful shots at opponent Andre Agassi ahead of Pickleball Slam 3.
The highly-anticipated exhibition event will see tennis legends Andre Agassi and wife Steffi Graf take on the team of former World No.1 Andy Roddick and Bouchard on February 16, 2025. This will be the third iteration of the event, with the previous two drawing thousands of fans worldwide.

Agassi discloses gameplan ahead of event

The retired American pro teamed with Roddick to win Pickleball Slam 1, before pairing up with Graf to win the second edition of the event. With his undefeated status on the line, Agassi admitted he and his wife would likely target Roddick during the match due to Bouchard's experience playing pickleball. The Canadian tennis star has shifted her focus from tennis to pickleball over the past year, even competing on the PPA Tour.
"For me, the calculus is knowing that she’s going to be the only one out there in that competitive environment, who has learned how to manage her blood pressure and nerves and energy right," said Agassi. In tennis, you have the luxury of transferring that energy with your feet and hitting through your shot and having physical control. In pickle, you have to have a lot of urgency, but then you have to calm yourself down.
"She has a great deal of experience competing in so many events to be able to control the best of herself in that environment so that’s gonna be a big advantage for her.

"It’s not going to feel unfamiliar to have pressure on the line and to keep herself calm and execute what she knows to do. That’s the big advantage for her. I think the plan is to always go after the weakness so I think we’re going to play her as little as possible. We’re going to check Andy’s oil."
Upon learning of these comments, Bouchard fired back at the retired American pro, calling him out in one of her Instagram stories.
"@agassi sounds scared," wrote Bouchard.
