Paul Annacone is a former coach of Roger Federer and he spoke about his turning point in his mentality admitting that he couldn't control his emotions in big points.
Federer then realised that he needed to control this and that it is a challenge due to the amount of passion shown in tennis but is one that he learned to do himself as he was feeling he was missing too much opportunities.
"When I talked to him about it, he started to realize that because of his lack of control of his emotions he was not able to play in big points and in the big moments having a clear mind. With the ability to really focus on what he wanted to do.
He just decided that he needed to control the moments so that he could understand what he was trying to do and really commit to that when emotions can overwhelm you. This is the challenge with any sport with so much passion.
You have to keep motivated and to keep you going in a positive way. But without a clear mind, making decisions is more difficult. Roger learned to do that by himself, he decided by himself because he was feeling like he was missing too many opportunities", said Annacone.
