David Ferrer is maintaining his link with tennis but in a different format than usual by taking over as the tournament director at the Barcelona Open replacing Albert Costa.

Costa has stepped down to focus on his new role with the Kosmos Group; who are involved with changing the Davis Cup; for Ferrer, he said it's a great, exciting challenge.
He also paid credit to Albert Costa who he thanked for his valuable collaboration; in the transition period.
“Taking over the sports direction of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell is an unimaginable achievement; a great exciting challenge in my life as an athlete and tennis lover.” said Ferrer.
“It is a double challenge to give continuity and evolve the professional legacy given by my friend Albert Costa; whom I can only congratulate and thank him for his valuable collaboration in the transition.” He added.
