Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter had a fun interaction on social media, after an unusual synchronicity repeated itself, and for the third time they won titles almost on the same dates. They had previously coincided twice as a couple winning tournaments on their respective tours during the same weekend.
The particular coincidence was close to repeating this week – although not exactly like on previous occasions. The Australian had a simply remarkable performance at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final 6-3, 6-2 and securing the 11th title of his career – and the 4th at ATP 500.
In Boulter’s case, she was not competing this week, taking a break after a jam-packed start to February. The Brit had been crowned champion of the WTA 250 Ostrava Open on February 7, the 4th title of her career, arriving at a particularly complicated moment in her career, after having fallen outside the top-100 rankings since the end of last year.

Mirrored titles

The pattern started in early 2024, when de Minaur claimed the Acapulco title on March 2 and Boulter lifted her San Diego trophy just a day later. Both players faced tough draws, with de Minaur overcoming top-20 competition including a gritty final against Cameron Norrie, while Boulter battled through a series of challenging matches, ultimately defeating fellow Brit Heather Watson in San Diego.
The trend continued in the grass-court swing. On June 16, 2024, de Minaur captured his Rosmalen title, dispatching Daniil Medvedev in a straight-sets final, while Boulter triumphed in Nottingham on the same day, outlasting Jodie Burrage. Observers noted that their mirrored schedules and victories added an extra layer of motivation: training and competing at the same pace while supporting each other behind the scenes.
Two years later, in February 2026, history repeated itself. Boulter won Ostrava on February 7, while de Minaur seized the Rotterdam title on February 15, both demonstrating resilience against high-caliber fields. Boulter’s final featured a straight-sets win over Tamara Korpatsch, while de Minaur overcame Auger-Aliassime in what was his third consecutive final in Rotterdam, taking personal revenge for finals lost in 2024 against Sinner and 2025 against Alcaraz.

Social media highlights the synchronicity

On social media, a post by tennis specialist Bastien Fachand highlighted the unusual coincidence that repeated for the third time – or at least came close, with only a one-week difference between Boulter’s title in the Czech Republic and de Minaur’s in the Netherlands.
Curiously, former world No. 23 Katie Boulter reacted with humor to the fact that in three of the four titles of her career, her boyfriend matched her achievement almost synchronized with her. “He just can’t let me have a week 😂” wrote Boulter, before receiving de Minaur’s reply: “Love you babe 😂❤️”.
