Rafael Nadal's uncle and coach during the years 2005 till 2017 spoke about the relationship between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Toni said: "I know Rafael and Djokovic always had a good relationship. I was always in a good mood with Novak, who was nice to us. He went saying hi to my parents and children when we were in tournaments, I can just say good things about Djokovic. He is an amazing player, one of the best players in the world but also a very nice person."
Spain also won the 2019 Davis Cup Finals in Madrid when Nadal earned the deciding point. About the new format, Toni Nadal said: "I think changing the Davis Cup was good because the previous format was very tough for the best players. They play in Miami, so they have to travel to another part of the world the following week.
For example, Spain went to Australia one year on another surface. And then the following week we went to Monte Carlo playing on clay, which makes things tougher for the best players. In order to have a great tournament, you need the best players. In the previous years, Djokovic, Federer, Murray or Rafael could not play, so we needed a new Davis Cup."
