Greece’s tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas has opened up about he and his girlfriend, Spain’s Paula Badosa, taking a different route to strengthen their relationship. The two have been together for over a year, but in May earlier this year, Badosa, in a post on her official account on the social media platform Instagram, revealed that they have decided to part ways.
However, that breakup did not last long, as the two were spotted together soon after, just before the French Open in Paris started. Tsitsipas and Badosa are currently in London to participate in the third Grand Slam of the year.
Wimbledon 2024 will begin from Monday where players from all over the world will participate and showcase their talent at the highest level to secure the ultimate prize. Ahead of the mega-event, Tsitsipas spoke to English media outlet Express where he stated how the two have found a different route to strengthen their relationship.
“Like now, during our short vacation or break that we had after Roland Garros, we went to Greece and we started getting into pottery so we started picking up all of those activities that, it’s kind of fun I would say,” he said. “It’s something that we never did and doing it together, it helps us expand and see a different perspective of life so we are very open-minded to these kinds of things.”
It will be interesting to see how both Tsitsipas and Badosa perform in the upcoming mega-event, as both do not have a great record while playing in London. The men’s world number 11 has never managed to play in the quarterfinal or beyond in any edition at Wimbledon. His best outing was playing in the fourth round in 2018 and 2023. He will face Japan’s Taro Daniel in his tournament opener on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Badosa, like her boyfriend, has never played in the quarterfinal or beyond at Wimbledon. Her best outings while playing in London was in 2021 and 2022 where she lost in the fourth round. Badosa will face Karolina Muchova in the tournament opener on Monday.
