Although he may be taking time off to recuperate from knee surgery, Roger Federer isn't exempt from restrictions imposed due to the ongoing pandemic.
In an interview with Miami Living, the 20-time Grand Slam champion spoke about the impact of the lockdown on his life and family.
"I've been very strict and serious about the rules," Federer stated. "I haven't even seen my parents in three months now, and we've been chasing around the kids the best we can on our own.
But I think this strange time has given us a chance to reflect and take stock of what really matters - which is family, friends, health and happiness."
Federer went on to announce that he would donate one million Swiss Francs to the most vulnerable families in Switzerland. He stressed that these were challenging times for everyone, adding that no one should be left behind.
The donation was made to a newly established emergency assistance fund, managed by a group called Winterhlife. This organization is a highly trusted partner of the Roger Federer Foundation, and specializes in supporting families in need.
