Although his popularity may not be at an all-time high, Novak Djokovic continues to show why he is one of the more philanthropic players on the ATP Tour.

The World No.1 has been involved in raising funds for the underprivileged during the ongoing pandemic. These acts have ranged from donating money to charities in Serbia, Spain and Italy to supplying medical equipment to hospitals.
However, the Serbian's latest endeavor saw him assist Sofija Markuljevic, a one-year old girl who is suffering from a neuromuscular disorder known as Werdnig-Hoffmann disease. This is a chronic illness that affects the nervous system, leading to spinal muscular atrophy.
The cost for treatment exceeds $2 million, and is mostly available in the United States. Sofija's family, who live in Serbia, lacked the resources to pay for her treatment and were in dire straits. It was here that Djokovic intervened, collaborating with Serbian businessman Miodrag Kostic to raise the required funds. Furthermore, the reigning Australian Open champion provided a private flight for Sofija and her family to the United States, ensuring she was not delayed by travel restrictions set about due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The girl's family thanked their two benefactors through a post on Instagram, expressing their gratitude to Djokovic and Miodrag Kostic. We wish little Sofija the best in her recovery.
