Nick Kyrgios has once again the eyes of the tennis world fixated on him at this year's Wimbledon with the Aussie ace reaching the Quarter-Finals where he will face Cristian Garin but away from the court, he has been charged with common assault relating to his former girlfriend Chiara Passari.
Kyrgios is due to appear in court next month in Canberra to answer the charge with the Canberra Times revealing the information relating to an incident which allegedly saw Kyrgios grab his former partner back in December 2021.
"ACT Policing can confirm a 27-year-old Watson man is scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates Court on the 2nd of August in relation to one charge of common assault following an incident in December 2021," police said as reported by The Canberra Times.
Barrister Jason Moffett from Key Chambers said his client was aware of the charge in question when approached by the publication. "It is in the context of a domestic relationship," he said.
"The nature of the allegation is serious, and Mr Kyrgios takes the allegation very seriously.
"Given the matter is before the court, he doesn't have a comment at this stage, but in the fullness of time we'll issue a media release."
