While he won't be unseated as World No.1 in the main ATP Rankings any time soon, Novak Djokovic has been in the UTR Rankings which he has previously endorsed by Jannik Sinner.
Djokovic has stayed on top of the ATP Rankings for more than 100 weeks longer than any player in the Open Era which is nearly as impressive as a haul of 24 Grand Slam titles. While he is currently not under threat in the main ATP Rankings, he has already been unseated in the UTR Rankings.
They offer an alternative version of the current form in tennis and Sinner's Australian Open victory and his win over Djokovic in the semi-finals has ensured that he will take over the top spot in the UTR list with Sinner playing next in Rotterdam so he will have the chance to solidify that.
Others in the top ten include Daniil Medvedev ahead of Carlos Alcaraz in third and fourth. While Andrey Rublev is fifth, Alexander Zverev sixth, Grigor Dimitrov which does reflect that he is a better player than his ranking shows with multiple finals sits seventh. Taylor Fritz rounds out the top eight.
The UTR Rankings which have been endorsed by Djokovic previously are based solely on form from the last few weeks and months rather than results from a year ago that often see players hold on to rankings for longer than their form dictates. As a result, Sinner having recency bias as such crowns him top.
“The UTR Rating is the best way to measure yourself against all other players regardless of their age or skill level,” stated Djokovic previously.
