Daniil Medvedev made a joke to the doctor during his second-round match at the US Open when his opponent Christopher O'Connell won a set after a medical timeout.
Third seed Medvedev has had a solid run so far at the last Grand Slam of the year in New York. He ousted Attila Balasz without much difficulty in the opening round, dominating the match to win a commanding straight-sets victory 6-1, 6-1, 6-0.
However, the 2021 US Open champion ran into a little more trouble in his second-round clash with Australian player O'Connell. Medvedev was expected to oust the world No. 69 with relative ease and for the first two sets, it looked as though this would be the case as the Russian won them 6-2, 6-2.

Medvedev jokingly calls for doctor after losing set

However, O'Connell appeared to be struggling with some sort of health problem and called for a medical timeout before the third set. Following this, the 29-year-old rebounded and took the set to a tiebreak before winning it 7-6 (6).
After this, Medvedev invited a doctor onto the court to joke about wanting whatever they gave O'Connell so that he could come back and win the fourth set. In response to the doctor's surprised questions about whether he had any symptoms, Medevdev replied saying:
"Yeah. I lost the set… give me whatever you gave him." Although this was just a joke and Medvedev didn't receive any medication, he fought back hard in the fourth set to win 6-2 again and progress through to the third round.

"Funniest guy on tour," commented a third.
