Greece’s tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas’ mother has revealed
that she is the reason her son and Spain’s Paula Badosa got back together. The
two have been together for a while and are often regarded as one of the power
couples in tennis.
Earlier this year, in a post, Spain’s Badosa announced that the
relationship between her and the Greece’s tennis star has ended. However, the
couple got back together soon after and have continued to stay together till
now. Tsitsipas’ mother Julia Apostoli is recently quoted in a report where she
stated that she was the reason behind the two getting back together. She also
stated that during all she cares about is the happiness of his son and explained
that during the difficult time, she was by side of Badosa.
"Stefanos is happy to be with Paula Bandosa again and
that's the most important thing,” she said. “If he's happy I'll be happy too.
There was a difficult period when they were separated, I was by Paula's side,
we talked and that's how they got back together."
Even though Tsitsipas’ life off the court has been going
through a good patch after patching up with Badosa, the 26-year-old has struggled
to produce the goods on the court in the recent past. It is the first time in
five years where when the current world number 10 has failed to play in the
semifinal or final of a Grand Slam. His most impressive performance this season
in a major event was at the French Open, where he was knocked out after losing in
the quarterfinal to current world number three Spain’s young tennis sensation
Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-6, 6-4. Tsitsipas’ most
recent appearance in a mega-event was at the US Open, where he was knocked out
after losing in the first round to Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis with a score
of 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
