Andy Murray hasn't played a tennis match since November and as many anticipate his return, his former coach thinks he shouldn't rush it.

Andy Murray has had a lot of issues in the last few years and after undergoing two hip surgeries since 2018. It seemed like a success for the moment but Murray hasn't played a match since November last year. Now he's pulled out of the Rotterdam Open. Recently he gave a statement saying:
"I don’t want to rush anything or put a timeline on my recovery, I’m going to listen to my body and step back on the court to compete when the time is right."
Due to the recent setbacks, Murray's former coach Alex Corretja gave his input on the situation. The Spanish former professional tennis player who now works as a commentator for Eurosport said:
"I really don’t know exactly how he feels now but clay, he should use it to get enough matches to be ready for grass. Because if he skips the clay-court season, there is going to be such a long gap before the grass. And the grass is only three weeks, so it is difficult to get the feeling of so many matches." He continued further:
"He needs to go thinking that those matches are the best preparation I could have to be ready for Wimbledon, and that’s the only thing he needs to know. The more matches he gets, the better, but he doesn’t need to get overcooked.”
Murray hasn't had much success on the surface winning only 3 titles since 2015 and his last match on the surface was in 2017. Corretja still believes Andy has what it takes to win:
"If he gets that kind of rhythm, he is going to be dangerous, because he knows the feeling and what it takes to win."
Corretja concluded in the end that his chances will be determined by the draw and many other factors but he is sure that Andy is going to be fine going forward. He explained that Andy already managed to achieve all things he wanted when he was a youngster and whatever the future brings it will be a gift for him.
