2010 Roland Garros champion Francesca Schiavone spoke about what she needed to go through in order to treat the cancer she was diagnosed.

Schiavone played her last pro match on 17th of July 2018. She faced Sam Stosur in Gstaad. Except 3 wins at the Roland Garros qualifying that year, she lost all other 9 matches she played.
During her career, she reached career-high no.4 in singles ranking and no.8 in doubles. She has won Roland Garros and reached quarterfinal at the all other Grand Slams in singles. In doubles, she reached final at the Roland Garros and semifinals in Australia, at the Wimbledon and at the US Open. Schiavone was also part of the Italian Fed Cup team when she helped them to win the trophy in 2006, 2009 and 2010.
After retirement, Schiavone was active on social media, when suddenly, she did not post anything on Twitter since 26th of June 2019. Now she added a video and a caption saying:
"Hi everyone, upon 7-8 of silence from social media and from the world, I wish to share with you what happened to me. A cancer had been diagnosed to me. I did chemotherapy, I fought a though battle and now I am still breathing. I have won this fight. And now I am back in action".
