Earlier this week it was revealed that the Olympic Games which were due to take place in Tokyo later this summer have now been postponed until next year after the Coronavirus leaving many players without the chance to compete in the showpiece again or in Andrey Rublev's case the first time.
As a result despite knowing ultimately he couldn't do anything about it, he was still frustrated that he couldn't make his debut in the event especially after having such a good year so far.
He won back to back singles titles in Qatar and Adelaide and has had strong showings since then in Rotterdam and Dubai before the season came to a halt and now he will be hoping his debut can still take place next time around.
"It was hard to accept the news about the
Olympic Games because I always want to participate in such an event. I have never been to the Olympics before and this would have been my first experience there. Of course, I was upset but we can't do anything about that.
The situation isn't looking good but everyone is trying to stay positive. The Olympics were postponed only to the next year and that time should pass quickly; let's hope for the best."
