Stosur receives Spirit of Tennis award: 'This is a big surprise'

Stosur reacted when she was given the award; she said that it was a big surprise for her and that she has loved every minute of her career.

The Australian also paid credit to everyone in her team; from strength and conditioning to friends and family and she said without them she wouldn't be sure if she'd still be playing.

"This is a big surprise, I was not expecting to get up here again tonight," said Stosur. "Thank you Dave for what you said, that was absolutely lovely. Like I've said many times, I'm very fortunate to be able to do this for a living and I've loved almost every minute of it.

But it's brought me so much. I really don't know what to say, I'm actually really blown away. This is a special thing for me and I've had a fantastic career. Many people have been a part of that, from coaches and strength and conditioning, physios, friends, family; it's certainly something that you can't do by yourself, and without that support around me there's no way I'd be standing here still being able to do this."
