The Stuttgart Indoor Grand Prix which was meant to take place between 20-26 April will not take place this year due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Already paying heed to multiple events including
Indian Wells and the
Miami Open, the organisers have made the decision not to run the event; for the time being.
Petra Kvitova won last year's edition of the indoor clay tournament defeating Anett Kontaveit in the final 6-3, 7-6; but she will not be back to defend her title at the moment.
“The city of Stuttgart has not specified a specific period for the measures taken today. Therefore, we cannot say at the current time whether; as well as in what form the Grand Prix can take place. The health of everyone involved is a top priority for us; and we in constant communication with the responsible authorities and the WTA”, said a Porsche spokesperson in response to cancelling the event.
