Elina Svitolina has reflected on her year in 2019 and also discussed her plans for 2020 ahead of the off-season.
Svitolina said that from her perspective after playing a final in Shenzhen; semi-finals in Grand Slam, it is small steps towards the big goal.
That big goal for the Ukrainian ace is to reach World No.1 and that for her it depends on her game plan and for her it is important to be fit and ready for every match.
"There were many tournaments this year where I played the semifinals.
Unfortunately, I only played the final once, in Shenzhen, where I lost. The biggest semifinals were in Grand Slam tournaments, Wimbledon and US Open. I slowly made steps forward towards the main goal with excellent motivation.
Next year I have chances to be the world No. 1. I already spent a lot of time on tour and I gained experience. Now everything depends on my game plan for every match. It's also very important to be fit, be ready to fight for every match although we have a very long season. I have big goals, including winning a Grand Slam. But now I just want to stay healthy."
For Svitolina, recently as well, she has already been busy in her off-season with her being part of her ES Foundation charity event which she says will hopefully give a boost to young talents and included Wladimir Klitschko as a guest.
