Although the action at this year's
Roland Garros (French Open) has left many fans fulfilled, several have been unable to keep up with the action, especially tennis fans in the United States.
The majority of the
French Open had been broadcast on NBC or Peacock in the US, but it was announced that the highly-anticipated semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz would be shown exclusively on Tennis Channel.
This obviously requires a subscription to the Tennis Channel, limiting the ability of thousands of viewers to watch the match. Several fans were unhappy with the decision, and took to social media to vent their frustration.
"The existence of tennis channel is an elaborate plot to kill tennis in the US confirmed," one fan tweeted.
"Doesn't take away from the fact that the coverage this RG and past years has been abysmal," another fan tweeted.
"No tennis channel is a premium cable subscription (ESPN is not, it’s regular cable) so just can’t watch at all. Could if NBC/peacock had it instead. I think they did that for rafole the other year??" one user posted.
"My dad was excited to watch this and now he can’t thanks TC and FFT for being utter garbage," lamented another fan.
