Simona Halep is confident of a return to tennis in a short statement on leaving the Court of Arbitration for Sport after her behind closed doors appeal was heard on her four year ban from tennis.
Halep has completed three long days in Lausanne in which Patrick Mouratoglou and his team also attended and admitted guilt for their part in Halep taking the contaminated substance which has seen her off the court since mid 2022 and at the moment serving a four-year ban.
But maintaining her innocence throughout Halep spoke outside the court and said that she is confident that the truth will come out and that her day on the court (a return to tennis) is coming soon. Whether that will be the case or whether it is just wishful thinking will soon be found out with no date yet set on the verdict. But Halep left the court in high spirits and smiling as she awaits her next step and hope that she can return to action soon. Or in her mind if not, the four year ban could yet end the career of the former World No.1 if it is upheld.
"I can tell you that this hearing gave me the chance to present my defense, my confidence is intact, it will be proven that I never had the intention of doping. I really believe that the truth is going to come out and the day to be on court is going to be soon," Halep told reporters outside CAS as per Reuters.
