Tomljanovic set for late entry in Abu Dhabi, will face Sharapova

Tomljanovic will replace Amanda Anisimova; who has had to pull out due to injury; she said in a statement that she was really disappointed to do so.

“It’s really disappointing to have to withdraw from the Mubadala World Tennis Championship,” Anisimova said in a press release. “I was looking forward so much to coming to Abu Dhabi and I hope to make the trip in the future.”

Tomljanovic on the other hand said that it will be the perfect challenge ahead of the new season; as well that she is really looking forward to facing Maria Sharapova in the first match.

“I’ve heard amazing things about Abu Dhabi and the championship, and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of this crowd against Maria.” said Tomljanovic. “It will give the perfect challenge ahead of a big season."
