Martina Navratilova has visited her best friend,
Chris Evert amid her recent cancer diagnosis. Evert recently revealed the devastating news that her ovarian cancer had returned.
Evert will not head to the Australian Open as a result, but will commentate on the other three Grand Slams in 2024. Navratilova herself has only just beaten cancer again after fearing that it would be the last year of her life and as a result has been there for her friend.
Remaining strong amid diagnosis
"Since I was first diagnosed with cancer two years ago, I've been very open about my experience. I wanted to give all of you an update. My cancer is back," Evert said via ESPN. "I will be unable to join my colleagues when ESPN makes its return to Melbourne for the Australian Open next month. But I'll be ready for the rest of the Grand Slam season!" she added.
Navratilova battled throat and breast cancer in 2010 and successfully won her battle. She faced a diagnosis of throat cancer earlier this year emerging victorious again. Evert took to social media to express her love towards Navratilova and remained strong amid the uncertainty that lies ahead.
"We're in this together! 💪🏻 👊 🙏 Thanks for the delicious food @Martina ❤️ ," Evert posted on X (formerly Twitter).
