Day Seven at the 2019 US Open saw some of the best players in the Women's draw seal their progression through to the second week at Flushing Meadows.

Among them was Elina Svitolina. The No.5 seed who has gone under the radar somewhat battled past Madison Keys 7-5, 6-4 in a scalp given the latter's hard court form.
The Ukrainian ace made the fourth round in the last two years and lost out to Keys in 2017 so gained a measure of revenge for that.
Next up is Johanna Konta with the Brit impressing in victory over Karolina Pliskova. Svitolina has now made the Quarter-Finals or better at all four of the Grand Slam events without going the full way to a maiden title.
Serena Williams is also through with the six-time US Open champion easing past Petra Martic 6-3, 6-4 on Arthur Ashe.
Williams nearly suffered an injury late on having an ankle turn but with her having a break up she played on and claimed the victory.
As a result of winning through, she has improved her record in fourth round ties at Flushing Meadows to 16-2 and has now made it to the Quarter-Finals in the last 11 appearances in the event.
In terms of stats, she won an astonishing 80 percent of points off her first serve and hit 38 winners with only 19 unforced errors as she showed that she is the force to be reckoned with in the draw.
Qiang Wang produced the shock of the round on Sunday as well easing past Ashleigh Barty, the number two seed in an excellent display as the Quarter-Final line-up began to take shape.
