2019 US Open Women’s Order of Play: Thursday 29 August

Thursday, 29 August 2019 at 14:00

After a rain hit Day Three at the 2019 US Open, the draw will play catch up on Thursday 29 August with the likes of Simona Halep, Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova and Coco Gauff in action.

Halep will take on American qualifier Taylor Townsend to begin the WTA proceedings on the Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Romanian previously spoke about playing in front of the hostile crowd and it doesn't get easier for the number four seed.

No.1 seed Naomi Osaka will face the in-form Magda Linette second on the Louis Armstrong Stadium, Linette moved up 27 positions in the ranking after victory at the NYJTL Bronx Open and could be a real banana skin for Osaka.

Coco Gauff will continue her run at Flushing Meadows with a tough test against Timea Babos. Babos has been returning to form as of late and the 15-year old will likely have a tough test in moving through.

Other ties include Kirsten Flipkens, the experienced Belgian ace who will take on one of the main favourites for the title in Rogers Cup champion, Bianca Andreescu in one of the most highly anticipated ties of the round.
