Fourth seed Aryna Sabalenka will look to extend her career-best winning streak to 14 matches as she faces Maria Sakkari for a spot in the final of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Open on Tuesday.
Following her quarterfinal victory over Elena Rybakina, Sabalenka will be aiming for a return to her third consecutive WTA Final as she takes on her Greek opponent. The Belarusian holds a 3-1 career lead over Sakkari, having won their last three meetings.
Conversely, Sakkari upset top seed Sofia Kenin to secure he semifinal spot. The World No.22 is seeking her third WTA singles final, going 1-1 in championship matches with her first title coming at Rabat in 2019.
The second semifinal features Veronika Kudermetova and Marta Kostyuk, with both ladies hoping to reach their maiden WTA singles final. Kudermetova stunned second seed Elina Svitolina in her quarterfinal match, whereas Kostyuk defeated Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo to reach her first WTA semifinal.
