American's rising talent Alycia Parks was smashed by Anna Kalinskaya 6-1 6-1 continuing her struggles after the Tour switched to outdoor tennis.
Parks achieved much of her success so far on the WTA Tour indoors. That's where her only WTA Tour trophy was also one but her tennis completely evaporated once the Tour switched to outdoors. She's yet to win a match against a meaningful opponent in those conditions and this one was certainly no pretty sight.
Getting back home and playing in front of native fans didn't help her much as the American was crushed by Kalinskaya 6-1 6-1 in a very quick match that saw her struggle with everything including the serve. She had only two aces in this one but also seven double faults. Not being able to impose her will with the serve was a major issue as the Russian took advantage of the slower court to bombard her opponent.
Under that significant pressure, Parks simply caved and in only 57 minutes, Kalinskaya booked the second round of the Indian Wells Masters. Lots of work ahead for Parks.
